Joseph Wolf was an outstanding German artist of the 19th century, best known for his masterful animal illustrations. Born on January 22, 1820 in Mörz, a small village near Koblenz, Wolf showed a remarkable talent for drawing from an early age. His passion for nature and the animal world led him to specialize in depicting animals, which later brought him international recognition.

Wolf began his career in Germany, where he initially worked as a lithographer. His skills did not go unnoticed, and he soon moved to London, which was a center for science and art at the time. In London, he worked with some of the most renowned naturalists and publishers of his time, including David Attenborough and John Gould. His illustrations were published in numerous scientific publications and contributed significantly to the popularization of science.

Joseph Wolf was known for his ability to depict animals in their natural environment, which gave his works a remarkable vibrancy. His illustrations were not only artistically impressive, but also scientifically accurate, making them valuable resources for naturalists and scientists.
