Le Sommeil (1866)
Gustave Courbet, a master of realism, created the provocative painting "Le Sommeil" in 1866. Interesting fact: Gustave Courbet was not only a revolutionary artist but also a passionate political activist. He played an active role in the Paris Commune of 1871, a revolutionary government that briefly took control of Paris. Courbet was even appointed chairman of the Commission for the Arts. However, after the fall of the Commune, he was arrested and later forced into exile. Another fascinating detail from his life is that he described himself as "the proudest and most arrogant man in France," which underlines his rebellious and independent nature.

Print medium
We use extra-heavy (400g/m2) premium canvas made from 100% cotton. The high grammage and texture of the canvas ensures a particularly high-quality and almost three-dimensional appearance.
Environmentally friendly
We only use original and high-quality pigment ink which contains real pigment particles. This is UV-resistant, solvent-free, vegan and environmentally friendly.
UV & moisture resistant
Thanks to the UV resistance of our pigment inks, the prints do not fade or discolor and retain their color brilliance for up to 100 years.
